Alex Herrington, Director

Alex Herrington has been a leading dance educator and choreographer in Aurora for over 10 years. In July 2020 she opened the doors to The North Dance Company with the goal of bringing a fresh approach to quality dance education with a focus on technique, community, and individual student growth.

Alex began her dance training at an early age studying Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and Musical Theatre at Jaymor School of Dance. Her love of classical dance led Alex to train at the Martha Hicks School of Ballet and Performing Arts. A popular teacher and choreographer throughout York Region, Alex also teaches with local school boards in the area. She has received numerous choreography and overall awards at competitions throughout Ontario. She was voted #1 Dance Instructor in Aurora in the 2022 Reader’s Choice Awards.

Alex graduated from the University of Guelph and also holds certifications in Early Childhood Education and the Coaching Association of Canada through the NCCP. She is also a member of Acrobatique AcroDance Syllabus and Aaron Tolson’s SolePower Fitness. She continues to train in Canada and the US, dancing with Shawn Byfield, David Cox, Aaron Tolson and Allison Toffan. As of 2023, Alex holds a seat as Director on the Aurora Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
